"I believe that developing great mechanics and fundamentals in both baseball and sports performance training are paramount.  Teaching a 9-year-old proper mechanics will not only allow him to develop quickly but reduce the chance of injury. That foundation will carry over for the rest of his life. I cherish the opportunity to be a part of that process.

Ira Green-Head Coach 13u

Degree in Education and a master’s degree in Guidance and Counseling.  He has an extensive coaching background having been a head high school baseball coach for six years in the Chicago area.  In Southern California, he has been the hitting coach and worked with the hitters at Tustin High for six seasons.
Coach Green has coached at all levels of baseball from T-ball to Connie Mack (17 & 18 years old’s.)  He began working privately with hitters and doing group hitting lessons in 1992 and founded The Baseball Academy in Orange County.  In 1995 he opened an indoor training facility to work with serious boys and girls with the desire to improve their game.

Players of all ages from age 9 to pros. have been helped by his coaching.  He has given instruction to thousands of area players over the years, many have gone on to do great things. Jon Damush -13U Assistant Coach

Born and raised in Mount Holly, New Jersey, Jon was a standout player through youth leagues and high school, earning multiple all-county, all-group and all-state honors as a shortstop.  Jon moved to California in 1988 to go to college at the University of California, Irvine where he majored in aerospace engineering and was an infielder for the Anteaters for four years with a career average of .330, and the only player to start every game in the 1992 season for the club.  His playing career was cut short in 1993 due to budget cuts and the termination of the UCI baseball program, but apparently he still has 1 year of eligibility that can be used at an NAIA school!

While his coaching work began with a part time job coaching the Corona Del Mar Frosh/Soph team in 1993, as well as private lessons for a number of area players, he didn’t really start seriously coaching until his son, Oren, reached age 4 and began playing T-Ball in 2014.  Since then, Jon has coached youth teams in the Costa Mesa little league and Costa Mesa and Newport travel/pony tams including the Cutters, the Sox and most recently the Mariners.  As to coaching philosophy, he believes in a focus on fundamentals, consistent hard work and effort, and seeking ways to improve through every experience - good or bad, win or lose.  Baseball is a proxy for the challenges in life, and kids who learn to deal with failure now will be positioned well to become future leaders - in baseball and everywhere.
